I went to bed with the intention of waking up and going to the gym. But instead I woke up and made coffee and waffles and listened to Billie Holliday. Sundays are meant to be slow and cozy and warm! sorry!

It’s been discussed here and there on this platform through different recommendations before, BUT I feel that there’s an almost holy level of beauty to Sunday slow-start rituals that needs to be emphasized. Maybe you sleep in a little longer than during a harried work week, maybe you randomly wake up early and quietly steep yourself in the sunlight as it starts to filter into your favorite room in your space, perhaps a physical edition of a Sunday newspaper or periodical to thoughtfully consider (or even to just sort of stare at), slow-sipping that delicious caffeinated beverage you start each and every day with, some warm and cozy jazz or folk accenting the proceedings in the background (centering you spiritually). Treat yourself. Life can rule if you let it.

sleep in make a big pot of coffee catch up on articles from bed *bonus points if you have a breakfast tray, newspapers, magazines, and buttered toast* put on some elevator music roll around

but not to jolt you up. one that’s slow and sweet and begs you to make coffee and sit. My best friend taught me this in college and now I associate his morning playlist with slow mornings living together in Savannah.

Specifically somewhere around the third date. When you realize you’re really friends. Got high and went out for Mexican with a new friend and it was magical because we‘re giggling and having so much fun and it’s like hey, we’re real friends I think! So fun creating new connections with new people in real life!
