tldr: no one really knows why or who decided to dig a massive hole into the ground and hand decorate it into series of rooms covered in over 4.5 million shells (but it is quite the vibe regardless.) there are a few theories as to why it was made, but it’s unusual imo to come across something for which the purpose is entirely lost (if it had one at all.) they range from witchcraft, the knights templar or just for a laugh which is kinda wild. it was cheap to visit and very calming! heres my photo of the small dome portion of the grotto which allows you to see the sky.

theyre so beautiful and pretty and like kinda crazy to imagine that some soul in the most natural part of the earth made it as a little hermit for themselves.. and if u want u can paint the edges with gold paint and it looks gorg! and if u, like most of us, happen to not live near a glorious bed of sand and water😢, u can heal ur inner child by putting your ear into like shower water or in a bowl of water, and pretend like you’re hearing the ocean on your seashell like ariel

in a vacuum, they will be no different than any shell you have seen before, and probably they will be worse. But you will have been the one to find them, so they will be wildly beautiful and new. All I really mean is be a child In any way you possibly can.…

this came about from reading the letterboxd reviews of a friend. i know this friend loves trash as much as i do, but noticed they still never gave those movies 5 stars. it seemed to me that even when sharing your personal opinion on something, people sometimes still like to see themselves as ā€œthe reviewerā€, an objective professional critic in their own bubble, which i found weird when i thought about it. so i made my own radar (or spider) chart with the things that i think make a movie fun/ good or boring/bad and i mark things off this way instead. i have hundreds of them at this point it’s really fun to do and idk i recommend making ur own!

if you have to talk to strangers who give you little back on a regular basis, i’ve found having a list of things i like and things i don’t like has been helpful in several ways! i can either check the lists for a new thing ive added to remind myself for something to say, or ask them if they have their own lists, and what’s on them. most of the time people will say they don’t have one, so this gives you lots of conversation while you workshop what they would put on those lists and they elaborate on why. here are my lists if this interests you
