I'm not sure if any of these are particularly what you're looking for bc I haven't extensively studied those movements, but you might be interested in 'The Zone of Interest', or the documentary film 'Daughters', theyre both pretty slow and not super plot centric as much as designed to be atmospheric. I though 'A Real Pain' was pretty good I watched that recently. Or if you're looking for absurdism/unexpected plots I'd suggest 'Rotting in the Sun', 'Sorry to Bother You' were both great films that shocked me. Or 'Hundreds of Beavers' which I haven't seen but I've heard good things about the absurdist qualities.

i have such a hard time getting through movies, its brutal and unfortunate. i am fully aware im missing out on some critical pieces of art in consequence, but if isnt both predominantly psychological thriller and as quickly paced as oppenheimer, its super hard to keep me engaged. i will talk about this movie until the end of time. despite minimal dialogue and the most clinical atmosphere to be captured by means of cinematography, the lack of information and consequential unpredictability kept me thoroughly enticed and fully unnerved for the full two hours. minimalism weaponized for max intensity with no certain direction; epitomization of surrealist thriller. watching it for the first time without context nor any expectations is an invaluable experience.

It seems like everybody got into the Cremator over the past couple years. Understandably so. Easily one of my favourite films ever made. Looking for more I dove into the scene that spawned it. The CzSk New Wave came about as a result of a period of political liberalisation in the country. Less government interference meant a greater level of auteurship. Following the Prague Spring this came to an end and many films were banned. Sometimes overwhelming, full of colour and bizarre dreamlike narratives. Other times slow, plodding and weighted with intense political commentary. These films offer something that you‘d be hard pressed to find in another period of cinema. The kind of expressiveness that only comes from new-found liberation and the eye for technical detail that comes from years of rote reproduction under authoritarianism. 5 films to check out: 1 Something Different 2 The Joke 3 Fireman’s Ball 4 Case for a Rookie Hangman 5 Valerie and Her Week of Wonders When coming up with a top 5 I had to revisit upon realising 4 out of 5 were directed by Jaromil Jireš. Managed to get it down to two, both of which (The Joke and Valerie Her Week of Wonders) are absolute essentials. Also worthy of note, this was the environment in which Milos Forman cut his teeth.

the unflinching type of depravity you expect to see in 480p on effedupmovies.com, not in a chain theatre, yet made me want to be much kinder to myself watch if you like: cronenberg, troma, having physical reactions to art, being a gorgeous woman in a tiny glittery dress i also recommend fargeat’s other film revenge (2017) which is similarly gnarly.. one thing i love about her style is when her brain cooks up something uniquely gruesome she wants her audience to see every bit of it, not a single cut away in either movie

I have been sick in bed for about 4 days and didn’t have much to look at, but my bed is littered with these wrappers. Maybe it’s the cold medicine talking, but I think the design is so beautiful. I love the color yellow lately and I love the flowers on the twisty ends. I hate the minimalist logo trend and I deeply miss when design logos/packaging used to all be so unique and interesting, and have intricate drawings.

an unreal combo, honestly so tasty and so inexpensive too (i would share a picture of the ones I made tonight but it was only beautiful on the inside, not the outside cuz I burnt it a lil and I ate it all in like 5 minutes flat)
