I had a dream the other night, and the place seems so familiar, but I knew that it wasn't a place that I have ever been in waking life before. It looked like an old European village, a giant fountain in the center of the square, vast rolling hills with quirky little lopsided buildings built within them. Throughout the dream I felt, I have been here before, as I floated above outdoor cafes with vines cascading off the walls, I rolled down the hills and laid in the grass, I found a small pond with large structures (sunken statues? concrete dam walls?) emerging from the water.
Sometimes I dream about a college campus that only exists in my dreams. I remember my paths to certain classes, where I usually sit, and specific buildings. It's strangely comforting and familiar.
The other night, for example, I dreamt that there was a staircase inside my apartment that led to an entire other apartmentālike a set from a 70s period piece/orange with smoke-stainsāand an empty room with a very dramatic window and a desk that would have been greet to write at if it werenāt so far up the stairs. Something something about Bachelard / the attic room allegory for the brain. IDK, I just woke up happy that my rent didnāt increase with all the extra space.
i remember every now and then iād dream i was inside this large, vast building with a gorgeous entryway and foyer area with tall ceilings at night⦠the doorās entrance was lined on either side with a large statue of a buddha head and the interior of the building with red velvet curtain⦠there were two giant staircases on either side that curved inward whoād greet you as you stepped foot through the doors⦠this seemed like a very cool liminal space except i was being chased by a masked man all around⦠as big as the space was i felt contained and constantly threatened by his presence!!! feels like i was living in one of the large lethal company buildings if it was in la and owned by a gaudy millionaire before it was even conceptualized
