It was mainly because I was leaving for college in a completely different city. It was difficult living with my mother so if I didn't go to college, I would have left anyway but it likely would have been years later, probably after 23. Don't feel like a bum, the decision to leave can be a big one, and just do what feels right for you.

not counting college because you every either move into a dorm or commute. but after being at my first job for about a year, i finally moved into an apartment. this also happened in autumn 2020. i have been in my own living quarters since. if you feel the need to leave and spread your wings, do it. but make sure you are financially sound to do it. have your savings, don’t splurge on a living arrangement you can’t afford, buy secondhand instead of new furniture, etc.

I was truly insufferable and bonkers at 19 but I was also (mostly) very happy. The first year of living away from strict parents will do that to u (Obviously I hope 21 will be even better!)

I can’t recommend a year abroad enough, if it’s accessible to you. Maturity could help, but I think there’s a reason why so many young people travel. It forces you to take steps whether you think you’re ready to or not. You evolve through the good and the bad parts of it. I moved to New Zealand at 20 after living under my mom’s midwestern wing my whole life. I think I would be stagnating if I hadn’t gone through that, though it was absolutely difficult.

Shows are impossible to go to, now. The entire Ticketmaster platform is filled with scalpers that TM choose to foster, rather than ensure that fans can see artists perform. (Yes, I'm salty because yet another performer's presale is on and tickets are "Verified Resale" for $500+ each.) I just want so badly for everyone to stop spending thousands of dollars on shit seats so the industry caves in on itself and makes way for progress. Concerts are not supposed to be this way, and we aren't getting there if people keep throwing a $2000 ticket on their credit card for 300-level seats. Don't be the frog boiling in the water, HOP OUT OF THE POT!
