looove the locked tomb (And anne carson!) - the hardest thing is finding anything comparable to tide me over til Alecto drops. have you found anything similarly weird/delightful?

@JADEWOLF nothing has provided the same level of batshit while also being well written but  a memory called empire is equally incomprehensible  the poppy war trilogy for two of the most diabolically intertwined war criminals. babel for the academia of it all a long way to a small angry planet for a lighter toned sci fi. sort of star trekky in the humor

Three Body Problem by Liu Cixin
Obsessed with this Chinese sci-fi novel right now.  It's putting to words a lot of the unavoidable existential dread that we're all trying to ignore.  I'm not usually a big fan of super hard sci-fi because I'm for the most part scientifically illiterate, but this book does such a good job of making physics poetic and kind of horrifying.

17776 by jon bois
this is one of tHE most captivating & compelling pieces of storytelling i've ever seen. it's multimedia speculative fiction about a distant future. it stars sapient space probes and an immortal and infertile human race, and explores their quest for fun to fill eternity. it's devastating and hopeful and i think it's maybe my favourite thing i've ever read, in both content and in form.

when anxiety doesn’t let me move forward, so it goes. let go of the things i cannot change, so it goes. it’s not even remotely the point of slaughterhouse five but it does help. he also got me to say “maximum effort” when he was like 13 and i was 8 and now i sound like a deadpool glazer every time i try to be brave
