I was so anti having games on my phone for so long for no real reason. I finally found games that I actually find fun and play consistently for a long time and it’s awesome. Phone time in bed: upgradedā˜‘ļø

I realized last month that I had basically developed the habit of ALWAYS looking at my phone. Walking around the house, brushing my teeth, eating, etc. I always had my phone out. I’ve removed a lot of social media apps from my phone, which helped, but the biggest game changer for me is just abandoning my phone upstairs or in another room. Reading a lot more, staying more focused, playing more fetch with my dog, life is good šŸ˜Ž

as a side effect of my job (and being me): I am chronically online and trying to fix that. this is my new home screen on my iPhone 15 Pro. I installed an app blocker so that when I shift into my custom minimal focus, only the default apps and what is on my home screen function. its only been a few days but this paired with journaling when I’m ā€œboredā€ instead of endlessly scrolling has already had a positive effect on my mental health. I can still freely browse on my desktop, but my phone is slowly turning into less and less of a dopamine sink and I think I’m gonna stick with it!!

There are a lot of phone haters on this app and I respect that. I always thought ppl who slept with their phone out of reach were insane. I have a hard time waking up in the morning, but I saw this video of this woman saying the sleep you get after your alarm goes off is so bad it’s not even worth it. So set your alarm as late as you can and then just get up. This has really helped me so I don’t care if it’s true and I don’t want to know unless it is. if the phone is across the room I don’t scroll before bed, which I’m kinda mostly weaned off anyway, but I also don’t get that creepy fake fomo that makes me need to check it one last time before I close my eyes AND I also have to get up to turn the alarm off. And then I have a second to remember it’s not worth getting back in bed. Sometimes you even get a surprise text or something from after you put it down and that can be fun I don’t know if phone is more good or bad. Easy to fetishize a ā€œsimpler timeā€ I never even lived through. But I think we are in control of our destinies and don’t need it as much as we think. Real life is better. This was about waking up to alarm but now it’s about phone. Ps I wrote this standing where I leave my phone for the night

waking up at 7am today has been a painfully dreadful existence, and i've only been awake for 52 minutes. How do people do this?
