when i was like 9 and finally got this on dvd it was the only movie i would watch for a few months. still an extremely underappreciated film imo!! a visually stunning tale of overcoming loss and fighting expectations. has its cheesy moments, but the cast sells every line. to this day, the final race is the most euphoric movie scene i've ever seen.
This is the definition of Hypercinema (quibble: I call it maximalist). Imagine Fast and the Furious but give it style, and an amazing soundtrack, set it in space, ditch all semblance of story and family, depict it in the most detailed and overwhelming animation you've ever witnessed and you've got Redline. If you liked Speed Racer, you'll love this.
