I've been putting all my socks into a mesh laundry bag since the college washing machine started eating mine and have had a lot of success keeping my socks, highly recommend

i love a fresh pair of high-quality, cushioned socks. it can feel like a splurge, but it's cheaper than other clothing items, and you're always gonna be glad to have another pair to wear. never in my life have i said, “i have too many socks.”
