if u know absolutely anything about me, it’s that i’ve been insane abt jane remover/leroy/venturing/etc since 2022ish…and have since listened to this album about 50 times since its release on april 4. although i enjoy frailty at times and appreciate what they were going for on census designated, i feel like this sound (which is not at all new for their work, just new for the jane remover alias) is a lot more authentic than the timidness presented on frailty and the repeated shoegaze drops on census. it’s hard to return to those albums now that they’ve basically released what i think is their best work to date. clears 2hollis’ star by a mile tbh…altho i’m coming around to it…

New album from Jane Remover (under the name venturing) !!!!! my favorite songs are Play my guitar and Something has to change but I’ve only listened through twice. Actually, Dream Sequence is my favorite (one of her best songs ever imo) but it was released a while ago so I’m kinda disregarding it at the moment.

this album is a lil bit of a slow burn; 61 minutes total across 10 tracks, with only two of those clocking in below 4 minutes. normally i dig a concise, tight record, but the ethereal vocals, droning guitars, and production that lurches from laid-back to desperately passionate, this is an easy one to lose yourself in.

The La’s made their first and only album three times, and rejected all three for not being good enough. The label got fed up and released the third attempt without frontman Lee Mavers’ permission. Mavers has dismissed it ever since as being ā€œall fucked up like a snake with a broken back.ā€ I get that it’s his burden to strive for perfection, but his failure is my inspiration. Ā  I relistened to this album a while back and have been stuck on it for months. There is not a single wrong note, not a single moment of hesitation on the whole record. It is pop rock written and performed with a despotic level of focus. As far as songwriters go, Lee Mavers may well be the equivalent of a mad scientist deep underground trying to create a perfect vacuum night after night. The songs are concentrated, some of them so economically structured that they barely even exist. They may not be ambitious in scope or message, but they are crystal clear statements.Ā  I love Lee Mavers’ voice more than anything, he sings like he wishes his voice could be as perfect as a guitar. He’s straining so hard, he hits each note so squarely on its head, never a syllable out of time, he’s got no room for attitude, he’s trying to write songs…

this is what we did for clem’s birthday. i HIGHLY recommend more tea party themed social events as i was thrown back in time to american girl doll themed parties when i was 7. i am insane towards small sandwiches and desserts so this was the perfect opportunity to reconnect with them
