today my friend showed me an archived and functioning version of kid pix on the internet archive. when i was in elementary school, we used to have computer class every thursday where we got to play with kid pix, i remember the little theme song and making images for stories id write. i rly love returning to it as a low stakes and low barrier way to make visual art :p

Idk if anyone used to have KidPix (the drawing software) on their old computer but I found that someone put the 80s version of it online for free cause it's public domain. It's so weird and odd and I love it. I use it for most if not all of my digital art. You can do so much on it but also so little, it's like a creative challenge. If you search up "KidPix" it should be the first thing that shows up or the link is here: https://kidpix.app/

I have recently settled on my sugar, spice, and everything nice albums. These are the albums that if you mix together and add chemical X will cause me to emerge from a cauldron like a rag doll powepuff girl. These albums are Cut by The Slits, LCD Soundsystem by LCD Soundsystem, and The Idler Wheel by Fiona Apple. The thing these albums have in common is their whimsy despite content. There is whimsy in playing with every instrument possible. In experimenting with form, defying genre, and making me want to dance at the lobotomy farm.

Crafting is BACK people. Don't get me wrong crafting has been my end all be all for a while now but more than ever I find that people want to bedazzle. This is huge for me. The amount of friends I have made by saying I own a hot glue gun is innumerable. The "let shit go" part of my resolution is largely in part to my enemy's list which therapists have insist I get rid of but that I find as a personal motivator. Fine, I'll listen to this advice because to quote Don Draper "That's what the money is for." Fuck shit up? Girls, gays, everyone in between, it's time to read radical leftist literature and get engaged in our communities. It's always the time for this but political apathy is not something we can bring into the New Year. Drugs? Yes, I wanna be well informed but I'd also like to wake and bake to get past my agonizing job and have good time. Sue me.
