Catalyzed by the release of “what was that,” I delved back into every song she’s ever released on repeat for an entire 8 hour work day. her music had me reminiscing abt when me and my best friend from high school were teenage girls <3 I miss her but I don’t miss that

Sitting legs crossed on the train, suggesting that you revisit Lorde's third studio album. I do not find myself in total stan alignment with a particular pop diva, but i have always felt drawn to Lorde. Her first two albums were devastating and functioned as backdrops to late highschool / early college coming of age but, like many, I felt her third album flopped- too many ballads, not enough percussion, fatigue around Jack Antonoff. So imagine last week when my hometown bestie / prom date Amber told me that shes been painting again and her creative sauce is weed and Lorde's discography. Three revisits later and Amber is so correct, the Solar Power album played in full will deliver you to artistic flow state. It is slower, lower key, and there is much less blowing shit up with homemade dynamite but miss girl did not miss, she is simply growing up.

recently i went down a grimes rabbit hole which reminded me how much i love her music and how instrumental she was for me to get into more alternative sounds, i wish i could listen to halfaxa for the first time again…

there’s some innate sense of shame or failure around stopping a piece of media partway through, but time is precious. dont waste a moment finishing something bc you feel an arbitrary drive to completionism. the grains of sand in the hourglass don’t care if you got through war & peace

If youd told me in high school that id be voluntarily calling my parents every Sunday afternoon, I would be incredibly surprised. But at 25 I find our weekly calls grounding. While not a ritual in the traditional sense, I feel deeply lucky to have this constant reminder of love in my life.
