Bobby Gillespie used to be the first drummer in the Jesus & Mary Chain.
But he also had his own band, Primal Scream, who flitted back and forth between C86/shambling pop and Southern-fried rawk.
In between those disparate poles came this album.... god bless producer Andy Weatherall (you can find some amazing mixes of his up on the YouTubes) for helping Bobby and crew discover MDMA and a whole new comedown-room sound. If you wanted to know what the baggy-trousered early 90s sounded like, you could just flip between this and Happy Mondays.
