I recently found an old camera that belonged to my Grandma, my dear one who rests in peace, and decided to start taking pictures so I can document my youth like she did and put these pictures in an album. The important context about this? I never felt like doing this because I found there was no one in my life worth sharing it with or that I thought would stay until I’m old when these memories become gold, borderline thought it was dumb.  Personally, after my grandma passed out I found myself really disconnected to any blood family, half cut contact with them, but it unexpectedly opened space in my mind and heart for new people, all of them I love, but found two of which I believe are my chosen family.  This is dedicated to Leonor, Felipe and Esther, my grandma. Not sure what order but; 1. My 23rd birthday, in spring, so it's spring themed. I can't put it in words but I'll cherish this picture forever. 2. Leo, Leonor, looking at herself in the mirror, you're so pretty, love. I can't wait to show this to your kids when we're older. 3. Captured by my friend on our way to an italian restaurant, It made me believe in this thing people say, that when someone that loves you takes a photo of you, that love will be shown through it, as they're capturing a moment of what you look like through their eyes. 4. I was driving to college and was met with the strangest weather I've ever seen in my life. A whitish sunlight was illuminating the spot I was in while a few meters away the fog consumed any visibility. It looked beautiful and surely in the future my city won't look the same. 5. Met my friend Dominique while working on a project about mapping the creative districts of our city to make a community map. She taught me valuable lessons about charisma and handling difficult situations, a genuine sweetheart, and I got to explore the most amazing spot in the city, Fell in love with it.

i was given my first camera at 9 old, a blue canon underwater camera. i filmed and photographed everything that was important to me at that time in my life. i just found the hard drive with all of my photos from 2010 (i was 10) and it is so special to get to see the world through the eyes of my child-self, i’m still drawn to the same things, i still have the same urge to record life around me because everything is beautiful and fleeting. ive never seen any of these until now and so many memories are flooding back. this is one of the photos i found

people have their own way to capture memories, and mine is to capture it through film! there’s just something romantic about capturing moments with film camera. the knowledge that once you press that shutter button, there’s no going back. there is no retakes, or trying to check if it was out of focus. you just hope that you got the aperture right and there‘s enough lighting to perfectly capture the moment right there and then. here’s one of my favorite films captured in 2024! oh how i wish i could attach more than just one pic here.

sent some really old film to get processed and found this photo of a friend of mine from around 3 years ago in penn treaty park in philly. she moved to arizona right after this. i never really look at photos on my phone so shooting film ends up serving as such a huge, important reminder of people i love and the things we were doing at different points in our lives.

If it rains, I always take lavender tea and an hour of my day to read or nap. If it is sunny, I make myself cold orange juice in the morning and take ten minutes of my day to sunbathe before I do anything. Coming from a country that doesn't have seasons and a city with bipolar weather.
