A short doc following actor and director Marianna Palka's journey testing to learn whether she inherited the mutation that causes Huntington's disease. The doc explores her relationships with her friends, family, and her late father who had the disease himself. The final scene is one of the most compelling things I've seen and I think about it all the time.
Definitely worth watching, less than 30 mins long and free right now on Amazon Prime.

fantastic documentary i watched on mubi last night. the director just followed around his autistic cousin and his family for one summer. his cousin is obsessed with the show survivor and ends every day recounting his day in the form of an episode of survivor, voting off whichever sibling of his that was being to him that day.
it’s a beautiful portrait of this family and the camera never gets in the way of how these people act around each other. everything is told so authentically and honestly and captures what it’s like to have/live with autism beautifully. it’s also so so so funny. anyone who has siblings know the vibes of this movie automatically. i adored it and would highly recommend it. it’s only an hour long too!!

What happens when you can’t run away from grief? The film poignantly explores this question, revealing that, eventually, grief catches up with you. Despite youth, no one can escape it. While we all crave happiness, the narrative compellingly shows that sometimes we must confront the challenging emotions.
The film features incredible stills that capture intimate queer love and the profound longing for companionship. It left me questioning what desire truly looks like when we are still in the process of self-discovery.
A powerful exploration of hurt, longing, and morality.
