FIRST IKEBANA ARRANGEMENT ON MY OWN

had another breakdown, so i took what pto i have left, barricaded myself in the dining room, and arranged some flowers and shrubs from my garden. once again, working on this calmed my mind. already know the proportions aren’t technically correct with the suiban (shallow vase), but im working with what i got 😂

TREATING YOURSELF TO FLOWERS

I used to be a bit of a “flowers are a waste of money, they’ll just die” person. But now Im shocked at how much joy they bring me. I’ve had an awful week and then living overseas from my family is made harder around holidays. So I marched myself to the flower market in my neighborhood and got some for myself. I smile to myself every time I see them and I think that’s well worth the money in a hard time

idk how i came across this in my daily wikipedia surfs, but something about this painting just amuses me so much. my first impression was this looks fairly modern in a way, possibly because of the composition and how she made her features so light and bouncy. it oddly made me think of disney when i looked for longer. then i see it was made in 1909 😂 this painting can transcend times and i wouldn’t truly know when it was made unless i looked more closely at the objects around the subject. but even that can be a stretch as vintage items can be popular amongst anyone and they can just have their vanity setup look like this. i tried looking for photographs of her online but alas nothing came up with certainty.
