a detective investigates a string of murders where all the victims are killed the same way-but each by different killers. it’s a fascinating look into the idea of the individual vs. society, the breaking point of ā€œgood peopleā€, and a frightening reassurance that you can never truly know another person. Expert framing, great outfits, and solid plot, I haven’t stopped thinking about it since I watched it on criterion channel earlier this week.

Such a fun and beautifully shot ā€œwho done itā€œ. Every frame is stunningly beautiful and the story had me AT THE EDGE OF MY SEAT.

Truman Capote is an eccentric millionaire who invites the world’s greatest detectives to his house to solve a mysterious murder. It’s a parody of old detectives like Sam Spade, the Thin Man, Mrs Marple and, unfortunately, Peter Sellers as a Charlie Chan character. You don’t have to be familiar with the original movies for it to be funny, but it will help if you watch with a fun friend.

The 2009 Argentinian version, a really good detective thriller, feels like an early christopher Nolan film in a lot of way. its got the same time thing going on, with it cutting between the detectives solving the case and then writing a book about it 20 years later. there’s a scene about halfway through set at a football pitch, which is genuinely one of the most impressive scenes I’ve ever seen in a movie. 100% recommend

Am I sad I’m not in love? Or happy I’m not in love? I don’t know I just love watching people smoke cigarettes and cry in the rain and be messy on screen

Had a bad day? Throw bullets on. Had a good day? Throw bullets on. Demolition Lovers is the best song ever made and I stand by that. Ray Toro’s music theory and sonic approach isn’t typical for what emo was(although this album clearly has some metal influence)and it’s cool to hear where they started that MCR sound. This is the best MCR album. I could geek out over this album all day every day. And I do. I’ve listened to this easily over 500 times sometimes on repeat three times a day at my boring data entry job. It has saved me. I would inject it straight into my heart if I could.
