some emo/punk infused with mathrock, and the last one is just shoegaze. i have less recommendations for the first category as its unique but you could check out: pool kids - that’s physics, baby polyphia - rich kids (ft. yvette young) yvette young - always the fall of troy - f.c.p.r.e.m.i.x. for shoegaze i just love slowdive too much to recommend anything else: slowdive - shanty slowdive - kisses slowdive - souvlaki space station slowdive - alison

i will def be adding those to my plan to listen for later thank you 👍 i've heard souvlaki a few times before which i thought was a really nice listen, i do think there's something about song no. 5 that makes me hesitate to call it straight shoegaze — then again i still barely know much about the genre other than me really liking a diiv album lol

@TRANSATLANTICISM you’re right the track is definitely less shoegaze-y than most, it’s the vocals that made me put it more in that category. i think the second song under that one is probably the closest out of all of them

@GRAM yeah that makes sense. i just listened to everything btw, i liked the pool kids song the most! i realized i actually have two songs from them liked already, both from the same album (music to practice safe sex to.) never understand how i always end up having several songs liked from a project that i have not listened to in full, but i'm happy to be revisiting it now lol. the recs are a different vibe from what i was searching for, but they're for sure going into other playlists thanksss!

sorted by genre, some are forthcoming but all have at least some singles out if not the whole project alternative/singer-songwriter: claire rousay - sentiment, experimental/sound collage artist makes an indie guitar ballad album, think boygenius with weirder production South Hill Experiment - South Hill & Friends, S/H/E are like The Wrecking Crew but in modern times. basically a jam band fronted by two brothers who feature a rotating cast of other musicians/vocalists/rappers. this EP is their latest collaborative project with some folks Laetitia Sadier - Rooting for Love, solo album of the frontwoman of Stereolab. production has some electronic quirks but mostly kind of alt rock at its core. lots of songs are in french, themes of love and conflict and commentary on social concepts electronic: Nourished by Time - Catching Chickens EP, this guy is like the David Byrne of rnb in terms of unique vocal affectation and song concepts. instrumentation is very inspired by 80s/90s club music and early digital production Thy Slaughter - Soft Rock, actually a very energetic electronic pop record, the last PC music release EVER :( Squarepusher - Dostrotime, idm wackiness but in the best way. if you just want to jump head first into some bleep bloop drum break madness this is your album (first track is chill guitar instrumental tho) shoegaze/dream pop Punchlove - Channels, some CLASSIC style shoegaze here, less pure walls of sound and more melodic and rhythmically driven but though that typical fog you'd expect from the genre crushed - extra life, vocals are great, production blends triphop/dream pop so the atmosphere across the record is stunning but groove-driven

- I have a incomplete but decent playlist of modern day shoegaze and adjacent stuff that you can check out attached to this post. - Groups would be TAGABOW (and Jouska), Blue Smiley, Full Body 2, Greet Death, Knifeplay, Parannoul, among others. - Doug Dulgarian in TAGABOW runs a label Julia's War that releases an insane amount of modern shoegaze related music. - There's this cool article by Eli Enis that gives a bunch of background on the current wave of shoegaze. Eli also has other articles on the subject you can check out too. - Kelsey/the Yellow Button also has some comprehensive shoegaze playlists and videos. She talked to Anthony Fantano about it in a video on his channel.

its crazy to me we are now at a point where major companies are actively putting measures into their products to make them hard or impossible to fix on your own. if you take it anywhere else to get it fixed your warranty is now voided. i just paid like $1000 for this phone. do i even really own it if nobody but the company i bought it from can fix it? better yet you bring it to them and they will essentially do nothing but quote you for overpriced parts you don’t need or more likely just tell you to buy a new phone. thanks apple!!!
