As diurnal creatures we shouldn’t really know any of this stuff so it feels kind of voyeuristic (non sexually perverse) to watch but also evokes the full spectrum of human emotion. It’s half a decade old (2020) but feels very fresh because of all the new information it contains.

@SOFT i think ā€œfly on the wallā€ is a good idiom for it but someone needs to invent a word for it

Besides having David Attenborough as the narrator, it is just amazing to see how animals and plants throughout the entire continent have been able to overcome and adapt to modern changes as a result of global warming and human interventions. The shots are amazing, it feels so up-close and personal. It goes through all the different types of habitats and talks a lot about certain specializations animals have developed. It’s so cool, I’ve been watching it nonstop

I usually can’t bear documentaries where people just sit and tell stories on camera, so this one was such a gem for me. it’s entirely made up of footage from Bowie’s speeches and performances, much of which had never been seen before. the editing is boldly creative, and the overall experience feels like a trip

Very immersive doc about a naturalist who lives on a tiny remote strip of sand off the coast of Nova Scotia and follows her 40+ year dedication to the animals that inhabit the island with her. Some really cool experimental elements, like a soundtrack made by bugs and film developed in the seawater surrounding the island

Any man, any task. I’m sure there are other ways to strengthen your relationships with men but this is the easiest I’ve found and my method also gets a task done. Ask your dad to build shelves, ask some guy on your street to mow your lawn, ask your friend to collect a parcel for you, ask your brother to hang a picture frame. So many tasks get done and so many men feel needed and appreciated. Could offer them a beer to make it transactional but it’s almost never necessary.
