Pulling up to an auto shop as a girl with a hello kitty house key has always been a nerve-wracking experience but for the last year or so I’ve been going to this one place recommended by a friend, and the main guy is so nice and helpful. Today when I went for an oil change he complimented my hello kitty key and said “personally I like keroppi.” Never have I felt more at ease in an auto shop. I moved last year and this auto shop is super out of the way but it’s so worth it to keep going. I pray that everyone can experience their own version of talking about sanrio with their mechanic ❤️
I’ve never been into cars. my gf has always loved them & it’s her special interest. recently we’ve been able to bond over it a lot more bc she helped me get my first car, a nissan juke, which led me down a rabbit hole of unique car design.
I’ve been really fascinated by the designer of my car, shiro nakamura. he’s designed such divisive classics like the nissan cube, the juke, & the leaf, among others.
He believes cars are “members of the family” & should each have a unique character. he talks about how form should follow feeling, not just function. how cars must be diverse to represent the diverse lifestyles of customers.
I have to use a translation app to get thru it but it’s been a really fascinating read so far, learning about the different values & emotions that go into vehicle design. cars are art, I’m realizing.
