was gonna mention this in my e-reader rec but i felt strongly that the LIBBY app in particular deserved it’s own shoutout. i also like hoopla and kanopy for music and movies :) it feels like online shopping but everything is free so my brain gets big and my bank account stays fat
I don’t know if people are aware that you can easily borrow ebooks and audiobooks through your public library using this app. Also, I just recommend the library in general.
You can connect the app to any of your existing public library cards for free e-books and audiobooks. I fell in love with audiobooks in 2023. They make time fly on my long subway commutes, and help me nourish my brain during mindless tasks.
I used to hit my monthly Spotify limit and have to wait a whole month to finish my book. It was equally frustrating to realize halfway through a book that I actually hated it and had no desire to finish it. Discovering Libby has been a game changer, in a low-commitment & high-reward type of way.
My kid has celiac disease and this has been an absolute game changer for us. We were originally using Yuka, but it's too premature in its ratings and didn't include dietary preferences. I do not often pay for apps, but this one, I will pay for forever.
When I started 3D printing I found such an amazing community. Not only that, there is a lot of overlap for tech/video gaming/anime. So if you are into ANY of those, the 3D printing community it a great place to find your tribe!
