I’ve been teaching myself drums on and off for a year or so. i finally worked up the courage to jam with my (very talented) musician friends. I sucked so bad. but a friend of a friend was in attendance, and he was the only one who laughed along with me instead of cringing out of pity. BE BAD AT STUFF!!! Nonchalance is an epidemic and embracing looking stupid makes people like you a lot more :D
im not very good at playing the drums but maybe like once every 3 months ill get behind a kit and surprise myself with not only how okay i am at it but how fun it is. a seriously fun instrument and its cool to hit things and you look cool doing it if thats important to you
let go of the desire to be really good for a bit, because realistically that is not in sight yet. have fun being bad, play something awful. the sound is your oyster nevermind some silly pearl
Ok so I’m dogshit at playing bass but it makes me feel like a toddler who’s recently discovered that piano keys make noise and I like having that sort of childish wonder abt making music again
