not trying to look like an angel, just sharing a story.
last night after work, i saw an old homeless man. iâve seen him before, so i decided to give him some money. i walked up to him, even though it was like, 10pm. i figured that since i was in a well-lit area it was safe. still, i got nervous seeing he was clearly high or mentally unstable as i got closer. long story short, being a pretty unathletic and short guy, it was a bit harrowing but i felt good afterward.
fast forward to tonight, i saw him at mcdonaldâs eating food. as i walked out he said âyo, thank you for the money.â he was clearly sober and enjoying a meal.
i never understood why people donât give homeless people money because theyâll buy drugs. i get that being addicted in that way is terrible and you shouldnât directly fund that addiction, but a drug addict will do anything to get drugs. the least you can do is spare a couple bucks for the off chance they decide to use it for food.
