hauntingly creepy short story about a “hysterical” woman under the 17th century rest cure who gradually goes insane, becoming obsessed with the yellow wallpaper in the room she’s trapped in. it pretty much ended the rest cure and is also an amazing example of early horror and feminist writings! i view it as a satirical dark comedy but i am also sick and twisted so maybe it’s just dark
I love this book! I have a joke with my cousin that started out as just him being in the walls, but now he’s in the walls *and* behind yellow wallpaper lol
Very short but profound. It’s regarded as one of the earliest feminist literatures. The story is about this woman who is confined in a room by her husband.
its considered a proto-feminist short story... written in the mid/late 1800s i think? it's pretty unnerving. i love stories that never let you escape the inside of the narrator's head and this is one of them
I had the idea to do a little micro book club with my friends where we read short stories and this was our first selection; one of us hadn’t yet had the privilege of reading it and for the rest of us (including myself) it had been a while. Iconic piece of feminist literature and domestic psychological horror that had me really reminiscing on my descent into madness living in a beige luxury apartment. Click through to the link if you want to check it out and you’re not familiar but it’s more than worth a reread!
looks exactly like my sisters when im trying to write neatly, my brothers when im trying to write fancy, my mums when im tired and my grandmas when im really tired
