Eating this fish felt like I was eating the essence of fish. I don’t really know what it even look like, but it didn’t look like a tin fish. This fish reminded me of a regular I used to have at Starbucks named Lisa who would order a tall green tea, but ask us to put it in a Venti and fill it up with water so she can just have the essence of tea. That’s what this fish tasted like it was very very light it also didn’t actually taste like salmon and it tasted more like tuna. The texture it had was like the consistency of paste. I wouldn’t say it was bad necessarily, but it just tasted like I was just eating meat if that makes any sense like the idea of fish is what I was eating. Would I eat it again?………probably…… would I recommend it no unless you’re into fish with not a very fishy taste I didn’t really get an applewood smoke taste to it then again it does say lightly smoked. I will give it that but it just tasted like what you would imagine fish to taste like and I know that sounds stupid but that’s all I can say.

After not shutting up about my fascination with tin fish, my coworker bought me a little can of sardines. All I’m gonna say is it was 10 times better than the can of sardines I bought at the market that was $.99 which I believe was from Chicken of the Sea. As someone with limited knowledge of what a good tin fish is, I’m gonna try to describe this as best as possible. The Moroccan Spice Sardines were really juicy and surprisingly meaty if that makes any sense. They’re not as spicy as I thought they were gonna be, but I will say the spice kinda snuck up on you in the back of your throat, but it wasn’t unpleasant it was a very nice sardine. I will say I had a gherkin. I have no clue what the hell a gherkin is or what it’s supposed to taste like I will say it tasted just like the oil so that was interesting. Would say hands down that was probably the best entry-level sardine experience. I will say we did pair it with a sourdough toast with a little bit of cream cheese and lemon juice that was amazing.

So first things first I’m a sucker for packaging. Anything cute anything cool I’m gonna buy it based off the packaging. I do judge a book by its cover. This mackerel is going to be the grading system for the rest of the mackerels because it was one of the best things I’ve ever eaten. I’m a sucker for curry and anything curry related so in my eyes this was a 10 out of 10 it was Hella creamy. I like that it was pretty thick too. I saw some reviews saying it reminded people of tube paint which I do agree but I fucked with it. The fish itself wasn’t very salty, which I kinda liked i would say I would recommend eating this with something else preferably a little bowl of rice it paired really nicely with just straight white rice. Rate 9/10

I’ll recommend this as a crowd pleaser tinned fish because it can be used with ANYTHING - on its own on a cracker, on toast with cream cheese, I even added it into soft scrambled eggs for a brunch! It’s the right amount of smokey, fishy, and has a great texture!

What up folks! I don’t know if it’s because my frontal lobe is almost developed, but I’ve gotten into tin fishes recently…..it’s probably because of the damn packaging. But if anyone out there likes tin fishes, leave me some recommendations down below :) I will be posting reviews I can’t say whether or not they’re gonna be informative, but I will say they’ll most likely be entertaining 🫵
