Honestly, the most useful type of comments on YouTube. I know sometimes they become obsolete because the artist posts the lyrics on the box description anyways, however there's a trend where they just don't do it any longer or sometimes they post the incorrect lyrics themselves, which makes that tool automatically useless. My last resort, so as not to stop watching the video and googling the lyrics myself, is looking for the comments with the lyrics posted by the most sensitive, caring souls out there, but as of late, I've noticed this particular genre of comments are extinguishing. Sometimes I have to scroll very far down to spot them, meaning people no longer show their appreciation towards these comments (THANKLESS MOUTH BREATHERS) or they simply don't exist 💔

these are often entire worlds in themselves. there is tragedy, reflection, love/loss, and nostalgia for a bygone era but generally through a lens of conspicuous consumption. extremely beautiful and dumb at the same time. i love to listen to the song and put myself in the commenter’s emotional mindset at the time of posting. music can deliver in us a wave of emotion out of nowhere and this is truly one of the rawest expressions of that.

youtube is accelerating the death of every cultural product of any value to humanity but as long as I can watch Simon and Garfunkel at Central Park I’ll never log off
