The game that literally saved lives in the early months of the pandemic! Charming, joyful, cute, and (best of all) very time consuming. (It does require a Nintendo Switch, which isn’t ideal)
Have you ever played the video game The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and thought, wow, I like this a lot, but I kinda wish I was playing as a 6 year old boy experiencing his 1999 summer vacation in the Japanese countryside? If so, I’ve got great news! Natsu-Mon: 20th Century Summer Kid trades puzzle solving and combat for catching bugs, befriending townspeople and sightseeing, all while keeping BOTW’s excellent exploration-forward design philosophy. It’s hard to describe the game without comparing it to the creator ’s previous works, most notably the Boku no Natsuyasumi series (this will mean something to you if you watch Tim Rogers’ 8 hr long YouTube reviews about games you haven’t played), but rural summer life sim is the easiest way to articulate this guy’s specialty. Natsu-Mon is on Switch and Steam, and is one of the most endearing and unique gaming experiences I’ve had all year. It should be at the top of your wishlist if you’re a fan of the recent open world Zeldas or A Short Hike, but I really think anyone will enjoy it :)
currently being a bit more financially responsible and finding that the only way for me to stay on top of things is to know my daily budget and actually write it down and see the numbers with my own eyes, because numbers don't mean shit to me otherwise
