I found the LP for this album a few years ago at a local video rental store that has somehow managed to survive the streaming age. Obviously, only offering rentals is not a viable business model for the 2020s, so they also sell used DVDs, video games, records, CDs, and pretty much any physical media you can think of, making this one of my favourite spots to browse when I have some time to kill. It's amazing the kind of stuff you can find in a place like this. When I bought this record, it wasn't on any streaming service and the only digital recording I could find was on YouTube. I checked again a few days ago, and it's on Spotify now, so you should check it out.

i have ~ 200 records in my collection (started in 2016 bc there was a record store at the mall i worked at, really ramped up in 2020 bc a record store ~20 min away is where i’d go for my lockdown sanity walks when things opened up but were still 6ft + masks at all time) and i love everything about it; they’re larger form factor so they’re physically imposing on your space and catch the eye easily bc of the artwork. they’re the oldest physical media but have made a comeback as niche collectibles, so you could ostensibly have an original pressing sun ra and the new sexyyred in the same collection. you can get them for pennies at an estate sale, or thousands on resale markets. they feel as expansive as music itself in what a collection can look like and how you sourced the library of what you listen to only downside is you can’t burn vinyls the way you can cds or tapes :(

I´ve been buying used CDs and vinyl, along with a second-hand CD player, figuring out what music I truly enjoy on repeat, without it being pushed on me. I still use Spotify, but mostly outside the house or in another room. Some evenings, I disconnect completely: no phone, just a book, a movie on TV, and my CDs playing. Feels like the year 2000. I took this picture from a local Cd store in my city.

after playstation removed a bunch of videos that people had already purchased through their store i learnt that when you buy digital products, you're not really buying them, you're buying a licence to use them until they decide they want to stop licensing it out to you. so i've kind of got back into collecting physical media i saw in my local charity shop that CDs were 10p and i had a look and holy shiiiiiit i found some gold, Outkast, Lauryn Hill, Arrested Development, Bon Iver, Haim, loads of stuff - and i don't live in a particularly 'cool' place so was surprised to find them and i've already rec'ed this before but DVDs too, a place by me does 10 for 50p and even found fairly recent titles like the favourite, little women, etc. idk, i guess i might be romanticising having physical media but i love it
