you will need a lot less than you think you do

and you will be able to get things as the need arises... however:
-my pourover setup was a must (electric kettle, coffee grounds, filter) -somewhere to put your shoes (either a shoerack or a big basket you can throw them in) -thousands of command strips (try to get them cheap because they mark them up 1000% in stores during move in week) -band aids
things you will not need: -a brita i recommend waiting to figure out the best cheap thrift stores in your area for furniture stuff if you need it. also ross is great to fill in the gaps too.

@GRAPE I have barely used mine, I just fill my water bottle or a mug anytime I need! I guess if you had bad quality water it’d be more of a necessity

pack an “open first“ box or two

aka a box of all of the things you would need (stuff like a set or two of dishes, hair dryer, scissors, etc) within the first day or two of moving and unpacking. in addition to labeling boxes; that way, when you arrive you don’t have open all sorts of boxes to get those few different things!

accumulation over time

i got some basic stuff like lights and star garland from target when i first moved in but after then i would get stuff or happen to see things in store that worked in my room. (granted my dorm was a house and i had a bedroom with no roommate) i didnt have a plan and it kinda came together and time went on

Throwing away extra pieces of hardware

I don’t need the extra hardware and bolts and dry wall anchors from my IKEA side table/TV mounting kit/floating shelf... I had enough before, thank you. And by that I mean I had zero… which is how many I need.
