Classic steakhouse across the street from Warner Brothers. Walking in there feels like you stepped into 1992. Everyone in there probably has a daytime emmy or at least a nomination. A woman with a heavy Russian(?) accent takes your picture and charges you way too much for a print. It’s so great.

Nothing makes me happier than going to Odeon, and Lucien. They’re classic New York. The lighting at Odeon is perfection. It’s impossible to  look bad there. Walking downstairs to the ladies room, you can feel the history of it’s patrons of yesteryear: Ed Ruscha, Warhol, Jasper Johns, Robert Rauschenberg, Leo Castelli, etc.I love to go to Lucien alone and have a steak at the bar. The bartenders are the sweetest and I always run into someone I know. I spent New Years Eve there and I swear to GOD it’s the best New Years Eve I’ve had in ages. Everyone’s gorgeous, cool, and interesting. The people watching is fantastic. The owner (Zach) is a hunk with bee stung lips. If he nods at you, it feels like you’ve won the lottery. I’m kidding. But also not. Go there with friends to talk all night about how the person you're dating isn’t watching your stories or texting you back OR have dinner and a cocktail to celebrate, right before heading off to the discotheque. I’m really trying to bring back the term discotheque. We’ll see what happens after this comes out. Maybe it’ll sweep the nation.

Growing up, I heard a lot about the famous Neiman Marcus chocolate chip cookies, kind of like when you’re a kid and people are always talking about acid rain, quick sand and piranhas so you think it’s statistically inevitable that you’ll run into them. To that point, I’ve still never had a cookie from Neiman’s, but I do hope they’re still churning them out. I have, however, had a rotisserie chicken at Harrods. There’s something that feels so vintage about eating in a luxury department store, it’s one of the most ladies-who-lunchiest things you can do nowadays. It’s instant glamor for the whittled soul. Having a drink is also fun—loosens up the shopping experience, liquid ease if you’re the sort to feel anxious when looking at things you can’t afford. Time definitely moves differently in these places, too—it’s all a bit ‘island of the lotus eaters.’ If you’re in London, the rotisserie restaurant in Harrods is good, dark, and savory and the wine bar at the bottom of Fortnum and Mason is a nice place to pass the time (also recommend the lemon and vanilla marmalade from the floor above).

Work from home, but don’t wanna commit to adopting? Between jobs? Foster a little fella who needs some help. Rescue organizations provide you all the supplies. These little guys just need your help badly. Please try this if you can. It’s excellent to have a loving bud around for a couple weeks.

A stunning podcast that I’ve been listening to for years hosted by Josh Korda who uses modern neuroscience to back up what the Buddha taught. Each ep is a 30 min talk followed by a guided meditation. Him and his wife, Kathy Cherry, also lead fantastic retreats in upstate NY. Transcendent & essential.

This camino is a series of ancient pilgrim routes that meander mostly through Spain and all end at the Cathedral Of Santiago. I only did a week on the Frances route and cannot wait to go back. All you do is walk all day. Never been happier.
