I cried a lot to this song when I was 16 and I wasn’t ever sure why - the lyrics probably were how I wanted people to think about me after whatever party i barely squeezed my way onto the guest list for and it still sends me into a haunting dream of parties of another age with flirting queens and blue jeans and grooving saints - only to knock me back down with a clattering knock of a wooden spoon on a pot?
In any case it is the most beautiful song I know probably

probably the seminal sugarcubes song, “birthday” is a perfect mix of angst and earnestness. a weird girl anthem, especially if you were once a little girl who liked to dig holes and play with bugs in the yard. one of my favorite bjork vocal performances of all time. i think everyone should listen to this during a storm and whilst eating a sticky piece of fruit.

Lyrically clever (the story of someone convincing themselves they're not in love through a series of non-convincing vignettes)
Musically sophisticated (the backing vocals are some of the most magical sounds ever recorded to tape -- the full story of how it happened is worth checking out especially if you're into music production or composition)
Kelsey Lu's cover for the Euphoria soundtrack is pretty badass too.
I've probably been listening to this since it first came out and I heard it on the radio as a kid and I'm not sick of it yet. Which is saying something.

I play skyrim (hearthfire expansion>>>) like i play stardew valley, i do cutesy little side quests for the benefit of the community, i have my little homestead and i want to get married and adopt children and i take no notice of the civil war playing out around me...
on the other hand i have modded the sims to almost unplayability (i have a broken extreme violence mod) and try to play that as close to gta as possible

Full Kate Bush theatrics and all! Ok admittedly I’ve never been to karaoke but I feel like I’ve been training my whole life for this song - I can hit every high note and I have the music video choreography engrained in my mind - I’ve done a few award worthy performances of it any time I’ve heard it played in a public place
