The slightly boxier design and tire on the back give it a slightly rugged look that future generations ditched to be another amorphous blob on wheels (🤮).
Was also my dad’s car when I was growing up that my brother and I ended up driving when we were in high school.
It’s nice seeing one of these bad boys around every once in a while.
been thinking about these a lot. the gen 2 cr-v. there's just something about it. spare tire on the back. wish i had enough play around money to pick one up
Car brands forgot how to make a beautiful car. What gives? The new tech is great functionally, but the forms suck, they are all too damn slick or showy or bubbly. I really can't find a modern car or truck that looks good. I don’t understand it. There are endless beautiful old cars. I especially love the boxy old jeep XJs (pre 2001), and old range rover classics (pre 1996). The best new car I’ve seen is the one new model of the Toyota Land Cruiser, you of course can’t get in the US. On a recent trip to Tokyo, I fell in love with the old sedan taxis, mainly the Toyota Century (pre 2017), incredible. I’d love to design a car one day.
I met Erin (@RIOTGRRRL) and Jake (@SLOWDAZZLE) last year after I started using PI.FYI—we organized a meetup before a Jonathan Richman show and immediately clicked over our shared taste in music and similar sensibilities. We started hanging out a lot and had some great times together. I’ve also gotten to know many of their friends, who are all really cool. Erin and Jake started dating a couple of months after the three of us became friends, but our group chat still pops off. Their friendship has meant a lot to me, especially since moving to NYC in 2023, and I really appreciate having them in my life.
Come hang with some PI.FYI folks at Franklin Park in Crown Heights in Brooklyn on 7/19 @ 6:30. riotgrrrl and slowdazzle will be there too! Link is the Partiful invited!
