always have a book with you and every time you idly grab your phone because youāre bored slap it outta ur hand and grab book instead also start with something fun that isnt āØliterature⨠to get your brain used to words again, this almost always works for me

Start small. I got back into reading this year by reading a lot of novellas and short story collections. No more than 200 pages long. It really felt like I was having to rewire my brain because Iād been out of practice with reading. Find a book that intrigues you (if you want to read graphic novels read graphic novels! youāll get to your friendās recs in time) and carry it with you everywhere you go. Then (and I know this sounds ridiculous) you just have to actively choose to read the book. I have to be like āok weāre putting the phone away now and we are going to read 10 pagesā sometimes I read more and sometimes I hit my quota and ditch the book for the day. I made a goodreads and you can set a reading goal challenge (which Iām now behind on) and thatās kinda fun.
used to read all the time as a kid before i got a phone and i was so much happier when i was reading 24/7 instead of scrolling. it seems boring at first, especially if you have my attention span (which is the attention span of a goldfish) but once you find the right book and really get in to it its awesome
Itās so beautiful as a previous book worm to rediscover your love for books. School can make it tiresome to read sometimes but a quick point of view change is needed. Reading leisurely can be so relaxing. Changing my perspective to relaxation instead of it being a āchoreā or reminding me of school helped me massively.
Got an urge to scroll? Pick up that book!
