joan joan joan…. what can i say about miss didion, my folk hero, the 1960s’ joan of arc? the it-girl for those more realistically inclined and the girl who knew all the secrets before any of us did. my spiritual guide, my best friend who i never met. she is elliott smith and i am phoebe bridgers writing punisher. i’m lucky i live in a time where i can read every single one of joan’s works.

Reading people’s diaries

Miss Anaïs Nin really serves it to us hot in her published journals. doesn‘t hold back. I’m reading one now that I think her estate waited to publish after everyone involved was dead and honey I see why. I need to know what her sign was but I refuse to learn until I finish this book. I wish I could read the journals of people I know

HOPE (يأمل) BY SLIMAN MANSOUR, 1985

all of mansour’s works are gorgeous and so beautifully representative of the palestinian condition (pre and post-intifada) but there’s something about 1985’s ”hope” that’s always stuck with me, much like 1993’s “the nazarene” (also attached). i cannot recommend looking further into mansour’s works enough. follow him on instagram @/sliman.mansour 🕊️
