What We Often See As The Most Cringe Content Displays Someone Leaning Way Too Far Into Either End Of Sincerity/Irony, And As Soon As You Start Paying Attention The Shit Is Everywhere; Edgelords Doing "Dark Humor" In Instagram Reels Comment Sections, Infographics About Which Grocery Store Brands Are Actually Zionist And What Gofundme's To Donate To Fight This, 3 Hour Video Essays About Socialist Themes In JRPGS And Those Who React To It By Sitting In Gamer Chair And Going "Woah, Chat" Every 5 Minutes. Both Shitposts And Calls To Action By Nature Get Equal Amount Of Space In The Attention Economy Of The Internet, Meaning Everything On The Internet Is Equally Important As It Is Worthless. And For A Lot Of Screen Dwellers That Dynamic Is Literally All They Know And It Fuuuuuuuucks You Up, Big Time.

I saw a discourse going around the internet. It's really stupid. People are trying to figure out the meaning behind Sabrina Carpenter's cover and determining whether it's ironic, satirical or if feminism has regressed because of Sabrina's fault (as I said, it's really stupid). Other than the growing cases of lobotomies and encephalitis clearly being displayed by the attempt at hyper intellectualizing a pop star's album cover, what has me concerned, is that people are utilizing irony and satire interchangeably as if they mean the same thing. Sure, satire can be ironic, but that's not always its intention. IT CAN BE. But not always. And I think it's thwarting the stupid discourse. Here are the basic meanings of these concepts.

everything is politics. from vaccines to lgbt matters, politicians have leveraged the things conservative americans donāt understand to stoke fear and confusion.
this isnāt anything new. what is new is the algorithms that reenforce those fears. comment sections weāre told to treat like real conversation just flooded with faceless accounts saying their most vile inside thoughts. itās easy to want to interact and easier to just read it all and be mad. but every second spent engaging is another brain scrambling distraction.
these sensationalized posts and comments do nothing for education, understanding, or empathy. even on the left, slacktivism actively hurts the cause. theres an idea that someone who holds ignorant beliefs is *bad* in all politicized fields. but letās be real, just because uncle jeff is pissed about tuck underwear it doesnāt mean heās a climate change denier. generalizing people is exactly what politicians want from us.
social issues are important and politics arenāt going away from that any time soon. but social media is a slippery slope and i personally refuse to engage. when it bleeds into my real life (āparents just WANT their kids to be transā) i try to engage in conversations that get to the root of the issue. whereās this info coming from, why do you believe that? these are the kind of questions strangers wonāt ask them on the internet.
misinformation is a sickness that weāre all plagued with. to find some truth and understanding we cannot be having these discussions on platforms like facebook or instagram or twitter. if we do, weāre just giving these tech ceos and politicians what they need: engagement and fear

all 3+ stream of consciousness hours at the roxie in SF (spooky and weirdly proportioned venue, see photo) and the 4k remaster still looked like shit (i.e. as good as you can remaster early 2000s digital camcorder footage) and there was one dead pixel of green hanging out for the whole movie and somehow it was still the most immersive and unsettling experience cinema has ever given me and walking back to the parking garage in san francisco at 1am (which was closed and we had to call the garage for someone to come open) made me feel like i was in the movie FFO: browsing r/liminalspaces, psychological horror video games, eastern european swag/horror, being confused
