Trying to be grateful to hear birds so often. There’s a species that came to town recently that is especially chatty early in the morning. The parrots have been around screeching lately, too.

a flock of birds landed on my roof and I could hear them chirping away but instead of stopping to appreciate them, I continued to stare at my phone, watching an Eastbound and Down blooper (funny) and a TikTok of the UHC murderer look-a-like getting yelled at by his mom (also funny). I only realized when the birds left that I had unwittingly denied myself natural wonder. Instead of having awareness and listening to the beautiful chorus of squawks and chirps brought to my front door, I sat mindless and slack jawed staring at jingling keys in the digital void. Don't be like me. I could cry.

Birds are everywhere. They're constantly chirping and communicating. Flitting through the sky. If you're outside, be still and silent for a second and you'll probably hear them.
The app Merlin identifies birds for you by your location, their calls, and photos. Somehow getting this app has made me slightly obsessed with bird watching. They're so peaceful, and there are so many of them. I literally dream about birds now. When everything feels weird I go outside and try to find some birds. Try it!!!!

moving to germany for masters in sept and already facing imposter syndrome and being preemptively afraid. this decision only makes me admire my mom more (somehow even more than i did before) for coming to the US by herself with no one to help.
If anyone has any advice for living in germany (40 mins north from frankfurt) as a foreigner, pls let me know :)
