I stopped eating meat 8 years ago. I don’t tell people this, but when it comes up and people ask why I decided to be vegetarian, I say because I love animals and I don’t want to eat them. People get defensive as if I am saying “you obviously hate animals and I am so much better than you because you eat them and I don’t”… The stereotype of especially vegans being obnoxious about their diet and lifestyle is so funny because while I understand some definitely can be, it’s always people who eat meat that can’t help but to criticize and poke fun at me the second I answer their vegetarian related question. I have learned to just not talk about it. Not that I even think about it, it’s just another part of my life that I am accustomed to. I could never kill an animal because I love them and I could never eat one because I don’t want to. That’s it. I don’t care what you do.

also been vegetarian for abt 8 years and though not for the same reasons as you (love animals but meat really grosses me out). when people ask why i’m like oh i just don’t like it. then it’s “but whyyy” then i admit i hate the smell of meat, eggs and milk. then they press and pry more even more like “what do u mean you don’t like it??” then i go well idk it smells like flesh/body and they get soooo defensive. like you asked? i didn’t hold you at gunpoint and force you to drink almond milk dude.

as a vegan i feel this!! i never bring it up unless i have to (eg. someone someone trying to get my to taste something that is not vegan and i kindly decline saying ‘no thank you’ and they continue to insist i have a bite) but the backlash i get for being vegan is wild!! never have i ever been preachy, but the amount of unwarranted prechiness i receive once someone find out is so strange?? like i don’t care what you do so why are you up in my business

Not being vegan if that’s not what you want to do

I stopped eating meat when I was about 12 years old and was a vegetarian and vegan for 10 years after that until I decided! I didn’t want to do it anymore and that’s okay 🫶 I’m allowed to make choices that feel right for me, without guilt or shame or moralizing. There’s already enough in life to carry—and I must say that I love to eat :-) (Parallel rec with much love and respect: being vegan if that’s what you want to do 💖)

rotisserie chicken…

Seven years of veganism really set me back! Wow, chicken is so good, but specifically rotisserie. When I broke veganism, I really just stuck with fish, eventually branching out to red meat and the occasional chicken sandwich. Despite my newfound love for meat, I respect vegans and their efforts. Whatever makes you feel good, I’m all for it. I do think PETA does a little too much, but I think that’s a widely accepted opinion. Doesn’t every cause have a loud group like that, tarnishing their reputation? Anyway, this is all just to say, I had rotisserie chicken for dinner today and it was so good. I hope everyone else had a great dinner.

going vegan

i feel good i kinda was eating this way before cuz meat started to become out of my budget but it’s really been a whole lifestyle and mental change. i’m not gonna lecture or pressure anyone but since i suffer i don’t want my pleasures to come from the suffering of others either and i know this fully can’t be stopped but it makes some sort of difference. and i feel lighter

best friends

I only have two friends. They are both my best friends. My best girl friend and my boyfriend. I had a good day, I feel I could cry. We all came together and made necklaces with beads. They just left. It's so beautiful, this is what I love about life. When your best friend and your man love each other too, like on a sibling level, also considering each other best friends, it is so fucking special. Us 3 against the world, I mean that so seriously lol. We all support each other through anything and share the exact same humor, why would I need more friends? I'm not necessarily opposed to it but I haven't felt a longing for more friends in so, so long.
