decided it's a gonna be a stream of consciousness summer. after a fantastic love affair with 'milkman' by anna burns (said with certainity( favourite book ever)) i heard it was a stream of consciousness style(i thought it was jsut mosfegh et al. vibes) and that lad joyce did a stream of consciousness too, i guess i'll have to read ulysses if it gets me close to enjoyment of like man. also currently trying to read picture of dorion gray and imlike.... . . dpmo oscar why is he called basil? πΏ so i am genuinelly sooo excited to read ulyssess. .... jsut feels so right and it'll be a ball so. oh and dacid foster wallace will also make an appearnce . anyone got great reccs for stream of consciousness a la milkman? oh an have a great sumemr and may your reading habits rear in a great sunny time.

πtry and wish as i might to dislodge the opening sentence from the corner of permanency of my brain, it won't shift. because it's just that good. so delicious and juicy and evocative and rhythmic that every time i peel open the well-loved, well-worn, well-aged copy of the book, i am unable to stop reading at just that first line.

πWhile its reputation as impenetrable holds up, keep in mind that James Joyce said there isn't a single serious line in this book -- that's the best way to experience the book, both an ode to and exhaustive examination of unseriousness.
The books about Ulysses (especially Ulysses and Us: A Guide to Everyday Living) are also great.

πThe thing on the book says essays in praise of excess which I thought idk would be like about kitsch John waters type shit which would have been tight but itβs about a lot of things?? itβs been very good summer reading and a lot of good things here besides being good and enjoyable itβs jump starting a lot of topics for my own writing

πͺpeople often spend too much money on things they can make with patience, for example any single panel of wood used for any need like a shelf. u can pick up a peice of wood from loads of places and just varnish it/paint it however u want. dont fall for predatory consumerism !!!1 but carpentery
