I love R. L. Burnside in general, and this album I think is his best transition into the garage rock/blues crossover space, largely in part to his grandson Cedric Burnside on the drums If you liked the movie ā€œSinnersā€, this album will probably appeal to you - a juke joint with a foot in the past, a foot in the present, and a handhold to the future

anyone else enjoy old blues like robert johnson, blind lemon jefferson, leadbelly, charley patton etc or is it just me ??? simple yet sad lyrics, just a dude busking thru the terrible Deep South during the Jim Crow Era trying to make a name for themself…like delta blues style guitar always captivated me i wonder if it could be incorporated into modern music…i hope i can try to one day

Think I heard this out but it was a recommended song after listening to Gary Stewart and I’m addicted! Nashville Sound!

Classic acoustic southern soul. This album is extremely easy to put on, it’s got a natural flow to it, little personal (mostly) single instrument songs that go straight from ted’s soul to your own. You may know the classic Sorry You’re Sick where he iconically croons what do you want from the liquor store, something sour or something sweet? It’s just a song that feels like music home, which is a common theme in his music.

A website with a collection of screengrabs from nearly every movie you could think of, and you can sort by film title, director, cinematographer, year, genre, country, etc. Great for visual references for lookbooks, or just to discover a new film you might be interested in seeing! I've attached one of my favorite stills, a great moment from Chungking Express (Dir. Wong Kar-Wai, 1994).

Just going out and picking up any kind of used physical media (books, CDs, DVDs, cassette tapes) makes the archivist in me happy, like I’m preserving somebody else’s story/ enjoyment of something My personal favorite thing is VHS tapes, I’ve got a decent collection (all thrifted) and they’re usually the cheapest things offered
