The dying red star across the galaxy twinkles at you, begging you to remember its name after it explodes. You watch its shine falter through wet eyes. Both of you know you won’t be alive to see the day; millions of years tick down on its doomsday clock. You make the promise anyways. You sleep and it gleams a thankful wink at you through the window.

i have chronic sleep problems and in a few bad weeks of it my last year of college i would sometimes go out to my balcony at the 3-5AM range (when i would begin to get antsy) to journal or smoke, i would look up and see this little star that was flashing different colors!!! kept me company according to the internet, its name comes from the Greek word for sparkling and article linked explains why it flashes/twinkles rainbow colors!

β€œFrom this distant vantage point, the Earth might not seem of particular interest. But for us, it's different. Consider again that dot. That's here, that's home, that's us. On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every mother and father, hopeful child, inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every "superstar," every "supreme leader," every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there – on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam.”
