i was 16 when i first saw this movie and i related to the character of abbie so much that i dyed my hair red for the rest of my teenage years. the casablanca references, the costume design, how bright everything looks, the music! everything about this movie i adore
this is one of my favorite coming of age movies. has elle fanning in it and i always love anything with her in it. i feel like this movie should get more recognition than it does. super good soundtrack too, including bad brains and the talking heads.
ok so this isn’t the most diverse list in terms of time period or filmmaker, but i’ve rewatched all of these at least 3 times (20th century women, 10+ times) and i think the four of them together say something about who i am as a person. all 4 are really good movies!!
