some fun religious lore - one understanding of their namesake refers to the passion of christ or the crucification, where the flower represents the crown of thorns and the stamen I believe the nails. Ilove the melodrama of this version

i absolutely love passion fruit but this is my first time seeing the flower, what a beauty!!
still blows my mind these are native to VA, used to find them in the old growing out of cracks in sidewalk, along their unripened green bulbs of passionfruits-to-be
