julia cameron was right. Sitting and dumping all of your thoughts out with a cup of coffee first thing is one of the only morning habits I’ve ever been able to stick with. makes you feel so much more grounded and I do think genuinely makes me more creative.
This is my first recommendation and it needs to be. Coffee is the first part of my day, every day unless I'm detoxing, and it anchors other routines like silence and journaling. I lead a writing workshop at a local public library and I realized on average I write about coffee at least once a month.
I’ve been attempting to write more in public spaces, both because it gets my juices flowing and the anxiety about someone reading it over my shoulder and thinking either “omg he’s generational“ or “christ this must be his first time” really drives me. i’m a bit too brain rotted though and can’t stop thinking about feminist literature, or Match Mondays. or this image. i think there is something deeply wrong with me
I love to start my day quietly, I'm absolutely not a morning person haha so just making my coffee and sipping it while reading or basking in the morning sun, in silence, really helps me ground myself and come to my senses.
(But I also like to put on a record if I woke up on the right side of the bed :))
