vonnegut, my prophet of future and past, my best friend. this book is a beautiful story about human nature and, despite vonnegut being painted as a cynic, is an optimistic look at the innate goodness weād all like to think we have. god bless you, kurt

Singer is my favorite fiction writer of all time. This dark fable set in a small Polish village in 1648 depicts the moral corruptions and transgressions that sweep up the townspeople as they embraceĀ the deceitful and profane teachings of a false prophet. It is a thrillingĀ work,Ā writtenĀ with a vividness and verisimilitude that feels like an historical account.
the sheer volume of human emotion on display in dostoevskys work makes me feel so very alive and connected to everything. all my pain, agony, joy, longing, anger and sadness is part of the role i play on this stage. whenever i'm faced with challenges that seem much too difficult for me to figure out, i remember that all i'm feeling is what people have been feeling for thousands of years
all of mansourās works are gorgeous and so beautifully representative of the palestinian condition (pre and post-intifada) but thereās something about 1985ās āhopeā thatās always stuck with me, much like 1993ās āthe nazareneā (also attached). i cannot recommend looking further into mansourās works enough. follow him on instagram @/sliman.mansour šļø
