at the end of the day its all about love. as most of vonnegutβs works seem to come to be in some form or fashion. theres always a love that drives the story, in slapstick its just more explicit stated- the basis of the story is loving and being loved despite all. and if that isnt nice, what is?
while i just love kurt vonnegut in general, this short story makes me think about all of the luigi mangione stuff. you can find it in his short story collection while mortals sleep (which i recommend in general!!)
Vonnegut does so many things beautifully. What I love best is when he makes you cry right after making you laugh. But sometimes he makes you laugh right after making you cry.
a very very recent watch (first watch was within the past year) to be considered one that defined a part of myself, but it did, in a sense, by making me feel seen through an aspect of myself i didnt often see represented. by giving my feelings and thoughts about things a stage, backed with dumb humor and strangely profound moments for how dumb said humor could be at times. big love to kevin smith for this one. really grateful to have seen this in theaters for the second time ever a few nights ago.
absolutely adore pulp and this is their first new album in over 20 years. spike island was the first single for this album and arguably my favorite still. great stuff here.
