The other day, a business man, stuck in the 5 o’clock weekday rush rammed into my side, completely oblivious to the fact that I existed. He had his head turned down onto his phone. Naturally I peeked over only to be at a complete loss for words. This grown man had asked chatgpt “what is 35 divided by 4?”. So, while stuck in between the man who can’t do basic math nor open the calculator app, and the man picking his nose, I became to wonder, is this really what ai searches are like?

hearing my coworkers/classmates casually say “let’s ask chatGPT” instead of “let’s google it” makes me feel insane. i’m not even a strictly anti-AI person but it feels like overnight it became the default way of navigating EVERYTHING for people younger than me- i’m glad i’m not the only one who hates this.

i genuinely don’t understand the need for an “assistant“ in every app now, it reminds me of how social media apps would copy each other to death, fighting to become the most popular one. remember when ig copied snapchat stories, or threads as the new twitter, the new be-real-like feature on ig, etc…?? except it’s even worse with this. people keep tagging freaking grok everywhere for nonsense on twt, there’s meta AI in every meta app, and now idk if they made Siri function with AI tech (i looked it up and there wasn’t a definite answer, but if anyone knows please tell me!!!). my obvious biggest concern is the environment, while the rise of anti-intellectualism is also at bay. i’m also tired of my university profs pushing AI onto me in an effort of trying to seem more modern. genuinely, i don’t think there’s anything that pisses me off more than chatgpt.

whenever I hear someone say “I asked ChatGPT” it pisses me off because it tells me they are too lazy to read through google search results or potentially reading a longer article for an answer. pleassseeeee people are literally destroying their ability to think. Also, using chatgpt eliminates the possibility of going down a Wikipedia rabbit hole which is Delightful and a great way to spend an afternoon while still learning and being curious about the world👍

I read this piece and wanted to share it. (It’s not my work) “Never enough money to fund education, always enough to fund wars Never enough money to house the homeless, always enough money for bombs Never enough money for healthcare, always enough money to poison our resources“

Takeaways: 1. I doubt i’ve ever wanted to live in a movie more than I have ever wanted watching this. 2. The best soundtrack in a movie i’ve ever watched (so far). 3. Oh to be a teen living in the 90s/early 2000s, working (hanging out and getting paid) at a record shop. PS: I’m on the lookout for contenders, please recommend ❤️
