Even if it's just a kids one from Amazon (I have a $19 one, horrible quality but captures life just great :) I went to a concert last night and came to the very upsetting realization that i forgot my camera :( I came up with the idea to buy another one now since I'm getting good use of the one I have. I have a TON of creative hobbies, and it gets overwhelming to invest so much into each craft (financially and time wise, considering the more you invest the more you feel pressured to have to focus on that hobby). Even as a creative (with a very cluttered work space), you don't have to have the toppest of notches for every hobby you partake in. Owning a camera and taking pictures often should be a hobby for anyone, creative or not. Don't be afraid to start from small! A bit extra rambling since I'm very high :) •at the concert, we were given physical media of ticket stubs, even though everything was handled digitally, making me even more aware of the sentiment I love of how important physical media is •lately, I've been wanting to get more into leaving something behind everywhere I go, kind of an exchange to the earth (collect via camera, place something in return via tagging, stickers, notes, etc). •as someone who (a) has too many hobbies to handle time wise (b) is never consistent with sharing on social media, I try to box myself in a bit as to not be too overwhelmed with all my hobbies, constantly trying to get myself to have "priority" hobbies. I am trying to turn this off and become more consistent so that I can build communities. My lifelong goal is to build a community of artists and create more spaces for them. I'm trying to be less shy, so that people know that I'm over here and I'm bringing more people like them!

Examples of ways to build more community around you (in allowed places of course ;) •tag •post stickers of your art/tagging name or social media •leave notes in public transit •write a note in a bottle and let waves wash it away •leave notes in library books •place love lock on a gate Let me know some you think of 🫶🏽

Went out on a road trip this weekend and brought my film camera with me. I’ve had some fellow photographers and non photographers spark conversations with me about my camera and it’s so nice making these connections in a new place. Highly recommend having a ‘visible hobby’. Plein air painting is also a great hobby for this! (Stay tuned when I get my photos developed)

Picking up a hobby that doesn’t revolve around content creation and documentation. it can still involve media consumption but documentation i believe stops my creativity and my will to continue freely dead in its tracks. And for what? so others will know?

I think in a world where most of us turn to doom scrolling and overthinking about the horrors of living in modern society, we need to start collectively engaging in fun lil' hobbies and projects. I recently started collecting cute stickers and putting them into a blank sketch book after seeing a video on someone's sticker collection. so find something that speaks to you and keep being whimsical in this scary, cruel world.
