[long rec ahead]
i can’t take all the credit for this rec bc that would be unfair to my mom. she’s been loyal to the acca kappa italy 1 vent hair brush (i believe this is their cheapest brush) since god knows for how long, and had to replace hers like two years ago! i’ve only owned flimsy cheap ones until my mom had to buy her second one.
i wouldn’t say i have high standards for a hair brush, but some things that i tend to look for in one are:
- should be low maintenance
- ^ no cushion or rubber padding (water gets inside and i don’t like that)
- base/handle should be one solid material, - no paint coat either
- durable
- gentle on the scalp and hair, strong enough to detangle
- bristles should at least be 17 cm long
- reasonably priced
- tips of the bristles shouldn’t be covered with paint (recurring issue for wet brush brand is the tips fall off)
and these brushes from acca kappa check all of the boxes. btw my hair is wavy and damaged from years of bleaching 🤩
italy 1 (bristles are ~19 cm long): suitable for wet hair, great for detangling, brushing feels like a scalp massage
airy 1 (~20 cm for black bristles, ~25 cm for nylon monofilament bristles in between the black ones): interesting design… reminds me of an x chromosome. adds sheen to hair, love this for removing frizz and making sure my ponytail/bun is neat.
