from gut wrenching to a light tug: mustang (2015)- made me cry twice in one watch. (disclaimer: a lot of turkish people have mixed feelings abt how this movie represents turkish culture so watch with a grain of salt but also remember misogyny does in fact exist everywhere) la chimera (2023)- there is a looming melancholy throughout the whole film but the last 30 minutes really did a number on me thelma & louise (1991)- gut wrenching in a beautiful female friendship kinda way lars and the real girl (2007)- the premise looks silly on paper and tbh it is but it still made me cry in the end nonetheless (maybe i’m just a dweeb) haru (1996)- early internet bonds. also more on the lighthearted side of things but tugs at the heart.

Ok but fr.. If you liked Worst Person in the World then watch… Weekend (2011) If you liked Eternal Sunshine then watch… Punch Drunk Love (2002) If you liked Anatomy of a Fall (I haven’t seen it yet) then watch… Force Majeure (2014)  If you want to be moved, a James Ivory film is always reliable in that department. My favorites are Maurice 💔❤️‍🩹 (hugh grants floppy hair should have won best supporting actor) and Room With a View ❤️‍🔥 (Beauty! Joy! Love!) Misc. movies that made me cry:  -Harold & Maude (1971) it’s a classic! -Moonlight (2016) I mean cmon yeah -Handmaiden (2016) always rocks my world  -Petite Maman (2021) you’ll want to give your mom a hug after -Short Term 12 (2013) early Brie Larson and Lakeith Stanfield… underrated imo -A Monster Calls (2016)… it’s a ya/kids movie but made my mom and I both sobbed in the theater lol

painfully beautiful film. good god. go see this immediately!!! it will make you feel good. instant favorite. i can't get over the final scene - nothing new but beautifully done. beautiful is the only word i can think of. also has a very lovely (albeit small) soundtrack. reminded me of people i once loved. made the experience all the more bittersweet

A website with a collection of screengrabs from nearly every movie you could think of, and you can sort by film title, director, cinematographer, year, genre, country, etc. Great for visual references for lookbooks, or just to discover a new film you might be interested in seeing! I've attached one of my favorite stills, a great moment from Chungking Express (Dir. Wong Kar-Wai, 1994).

Just going out and picking up any kind of used physical media (books, CDs, DVDs, cassette tapes) makes the archivist in me happy, like I’m preserving somebody else’s story/ enjoyment of something My personal favorite thing is VHS tapes, I’ve got a decent collection (all thrifted) and they’re usually the cheapest things offered
