I enjoy listening to my dad’s favorite music from when he was a teenager. Imagining him listening to all his favorite hair metal bands on a cassette player, reveling in his teenage angst makes me feel closer to him.

yess my dad has the BEST taste in music he's introduced me to so much cool stuff - as well as the smiths which he introduced far too soon after my naissance (clearly affected me negatively in some way but i cant judge too much) i imagine that he too was an edgy melancholic teen which is fun albeit a little disconcerting to think about

Seeing your childhood favourite bands with your dad
It’s soul healing I think. Went to see They Might Be Giants with my dad and cried at Birdhouse thinking about 8 year old me singing it with my dad. We‘ve also seen Belle and Sebastian and Yeah Yeah Yeahs together. He said we just need to see Avril Lavigne and Blondie now and we’ll have seen all the bands we used to cover when I was little (him on guitar me singing). Just go to gigs with your dad, the best gig companion.

i spend a lot of time driving with my dad and idk what that man likes aux wise so i’ve started curating songs he nods approvingly at into a playlist and it’s become my dad aux playlist, incredibly helpful for someone whose taste you may not be so familiar with

WRITING LETTERS
I recently bought some nice stationary to write letters (I already had a pen and some ink I love). I just sent out my first one and it felt really good. Something about the scratch of the pen on paper, then sending the only copy of my words to someone close to me really hits. I recommend double checking that the envelopes you buy are large enough for the stationary though…
